thankful

It’s Thanksgiving today here in the US.  As it’s naptime right now, I thought I’d list of few things I’m thankful for:

  • microfiber cleaning cloths
  • warranties on frames and lenses
  • insurance that covers eye exams (even if it doesn’t cover frames)
  • eyeglasses stores that adjust, repair, and unbend at no cost, with a smile and a sticker
  • the fact that Zoe’s vision is correctable
  • the Interwebs and the fact that I’ve been able to find other parents of young kids in glasses – especially as they’ve helped me laugh at some of the frustrations

I'm an environmental educator with two daughters, three cats, a tortoise, and one patient, loving husband. I run the For Little Eyes website for families of young kids in glasses. The Tragic Optimist is my very neglected personal blog.

  1. I’m thankful for people that come up to my son to tell him how much they like his glasses.
I’m also thankful for people that come up to us and tell us that they used to have to patch their child and the success they have had with it, or just acknowledge the struggle of it.

  2. Oh, that’s very true, I’ve had many people tell me that they had glasses or strabismus surgery as kids and it really has helped me deal with things.

  3. I am thankful everytime I hear my daughter ask “Mommy, can I have my glasses please?” in the morning or after a nap. It reminds me that wearing glass, though sometimes hard on me, is not only good for her but she is really glad we caught this so she can see and her glasses make her happy.
