Ok, so I love Target in general and sometimes think I should just hand over our paycheck to them at times, but I’m even more lucky because our Target is a super Target and has an optical store in it and that’s where we got Sam’s glasses. It’s been about 14 months since he gotContinue reading “I love me some Target!”

Why couldn’t it have lasted a few more months?
I’ve never seen glasses do this before, but one of the coatings is peeling off of Sam’s glasses. It is really bad right in the middle of the left lense, so we are going to replace that one. He has an appointment coming up with his eye dr in just 2 1/2 months, and oddsContinue reading “Why couldn’t it have lasted a few more months?”
But he’s so cute!
We haven’t had much going on here. Sam still throws his glasses when he’s mad. We make regular runs to get them adjusted. The only new thing is that Sam has come home from preschool a few times complaining that one of the other boys keeps trying to play with his glasses. I just reassurredContinue reading “But he’s so cute!”
Update on Sam’s glasses
Target’s optical shop was open yesterday, Labor Day. The husband took Sam down there to see if the glasses could be fixed. They could not. But, as luck would have it, they had the frames in stock and were able to just pop the lenses into the new frames. Since the frames were less thanContinue reading “Update on Sam’s glasses”
It only took 5 months
Sam’s glasses got broken this evening. We’re not sure how, and I don’t even think he did it. I honestly think Emma did the damage, based on her declaration that “It was an accident, Mama!” when I asked her what happened. The husband ran down to Target in the hopes of a repair, but theContinue reading “It only took 5 months”
Well crap.
My 6 year old daughters had a check up today and Emma failed the eye exam. Now, I’m not really surprised at this, since I’m half blind, the man of the house was until the lucky dog had lasik surgery and of course, Sam wears glasses. We have all that lovely family history on myContinue reading “Well crap.”
Hey kid, that’s not a toy!
There is some bit of irony in the fact that I have to let my toddler wear a relatively expensive pair of glasses so that he can see. You can bet your biscuits that I wouldn’t let him run around with anything else that cost that much all day, every day. Lately Sam has beenContinue reading “Hey kid, that’s not a toy!”
Eyes crossing?
I know lots of kids wear glasses because of lazy eye and what not that causes their eyes to cross. But Sam is just really near sighted and has never had problems with is eyes crossing. Only, just this week he was sitting in my bed after just waking up that morning and talking toContinue reading “Eyes crossing?”
Oh, I can see!
Said Sam this morning when he put his glasses on. Heehee! I’m pretty sure that he has reached the point where he realizes that he sees better with them on and is happy to wear them. Yay! In fact, I think that big sisters are a little jealous of Sam being able to wear glassesContinue reading “Oh, I can see!”
Well, that was just odd.
Tuesday was field day for my daughters’ kindy class (their class won 2 1st, 2 2nd and 3 3rds, btw), so Sam and I went to watch and cheer them on. We were on our way out when one of the custodians stopped me to ask about Sam’s glasses. That’s not so odd, although IContinue reading “Well, that was just odd.”
A helping of mommy guilt
Sam’s preschool finished up their year this week with the little program they do. Each class gets up and sings for the parents and its all very cute. When we dropped him off at his classroom, his teachers gave us a little book they had made with pictures of him taken throughout the year. MyContinue reading “A helping of mommy guilt”
Lost kid and glasses
We have a fenced in yard and I’ve been ok allowing Sam outside for a few minutes without me. A few days ago, he wanted to go out back and play as soon as we got back from picking his sisters up from school. I sent him through the gate and then went in theContinue reading “Lost kid and glasses”
Fingerprints and other things
We have yet to be able to teach Sam not to push his glasses up by putting his fingers on the lenses. The result is that they are pretty much always spotty, even 5 minutes after I’ve cleaned them. Last night, he pushed on them right after eating an ice cream sandwich. Result= two chocolateContinue reading “Fingerprints and other things”
Reactions from other people
Honestly, pretty much everyone that has commented on Sam’s glasses think they are really cute. I’ll admit, I’ve come to think so, too. And in just a week and a half, I’ve come to think he looks better with them on than off. His sisters, especially Ellie, have had to be told to keep theirContinue reading “Reactions from other people”
Sam’s story
Hello all! I’m Amanda, Sam’s mom (as you can see from my uninspired username. lol) I’ll just jump right in and tell how Sam came to wear glasses. He’s 2.5 yrs old and looks like a little professor with his glasses on. We started noticing a few months ago that he was squinting at theContinue reading “Sam’s story”
